Casa Dakota Guidelines

Vision:

It is Gregg & Liz’s vision that Casa Dakota & Pink Shell are a place to build memories with Family and Friends forever. Each Family Member is encouraged to be a regular in Key Largo. Remember, we are in the Keys……no drama allowed and it’s “5 o’clock somewhere”.

Guidelines:

As a family, we have many moving parts and desire to avoid any misunderstandings, so we have drafted these Guidelines not as rules but to bring order to our Vision for Casa Dakota’s use. Flexibility within reason is our desire so don’t be afraid to ask, and we will try to accommodate your request.

Reservation for Relatives and Special Friends: Advanced reservations are encouraged to secure Casa Dakota during the time you desire. All 10 Holiday weekends are blocked out for immediate family use up to 7 days prior to the holiday weekend. If Casa Dakota is not booked for less than 7 days prior to the holiday weekend, it will be considered available for a holiday weekend for Relatives and Special Friends.

Holidays: Are always booked for the immediate family’s first. Every effort will be made to have family time during these 10 Holidays: New Years, Valentines Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

Pets: Pets are welcome

Housekeeping: Meet Maria, she is our housekeeper and will visit the Casa Dakota upon your departure to completely turnover Casa Dakota for the next Friends to visit after your stay. Cleaning fees vary based on the length of stay and bedrooms used. Please follow the guidelines as outlined below. If confused, call Odette. Please take a picture of the cash you left on the counter and text to Odette so we can avoid any confusion with the housekeeper.

 Housekeeping payment schedule:

  • 1 bedroom for 1-7 days- $125 at departure

  • 2 bedrooms for 1-7 days- $160 at departure

  • 3 bedrooms for 1-7 days- $200 at departure

  • 3 bedrooms and a fold-out bed on 1st floor for 1-7 days- $250 at departure

Boat Launch: We have a boat ramp key that can be used by anyone who needs it. Boat ramp is on the south side of the subdivision after you leave the Island that Casa Dakota is located.  Please remember to return the key to the key rack in the upstairs kitchen.

Kayaks & Paddles are available. Please hose off and put back on the racks when complete.

Grilling: Nothing is better than grilled fish or a grilled piece of meat cooked on the balcony looking out on Key Largo Sound. You might need to get charcoal and lighter. Grill is provided. Please clean the grill after using it for the next family.

Fishing: There is good fishing off the dock. You can expect lots of wildlife if you just observe and pay attention. Live bait and a chum bag work well.

Front Door Key: Please always leave the key in the lock box. Don’t be like a few guests who went home with the key in their pocket. Code: 0623

Outside Furniture: Please put all cushions back in the storage box prior to leaving and make sure the lid is secured.

Trash: Please dispose of all trash when you leave Casa Dakota. Ants love to visit our trash cans.

Clean Out the refrigerator: Please remove anything that will spoil. It’s OK to leave items like mustard and ketchup and pickle for the next family.

Liquor: You are in the Keys, drinking is encouraged! The bar is always open to everyone who stays at Casa Dakota. Tradition has been to leave more than you drink for the next guest’s enjoyment.
